Facts and FAQs

Answers to Your Common Questions

  • What can I expect on my first visit as a new patient?

Your initial appointment will start with a short pre-clinical visit with Dr. Brown and staff to allow us to get to know you and to let you express your concerns and expectations regarding your oral health. This will be followed by a comprehensive clinical examination by Dr. Brown. Diagnostic images such as digital X-rays and photographs will be taken when deemed necessary. During this appointment you will also have an assessment of your periodontal condition. This will allow us to schedule you later to see our hygienist for the specific type of cleaning or periodontal care necessary for you.

Once all the data and information from the examination is recorded Dr. Brown will study it and share the findings with you at a later consultation appointment. At this appointment Dr. Brown will take time to answer your questions and help you understand your options if you have any dental problems. After you make your choices your care will be individualized to meet your specific circumstances, needs and desires in a sequence and time frame comfortable for you.

  • Do you see children?
Yes, we have many families in the practice and that naturally includes children. We see most children unless they require certain special needs. In that case we would refer them to a children’s specialist to help them.
  • Do you take new patient referrals?

Referring family and friends is the ultimate compliment you can give us. We hope we have earned your trust and would like to extend the same loving care and experience to those you refer to us.

We encourage our patients to refer to us because as they are cared for their oral health becomes stable and they are not in need of any dentistry. Referring others also helps to insure our future, so we will continue to be here for you.

  • Do you accept Dental Insurance?

Just as our care for you is individualized so are our fees as they represent the specific care you choose for yourself. We will never let your treatment options be influenced by any dental insurance coverage or benefits. We are committed to providing you with the best quality of care and dental services available. Insurance plan contract dentistry does not allow the high quality of care we provide so we don’t participate in such plans.

Your dental insurance is a form of compensation provided by your employer. You can expect the insurance company to reimburse you for a portion of our fee. That portion is determined by the amount of benefits your employer has purchased from the insurance company.

We will be available to help you file your claims and provide the necessary documentation to have you reimbursed directly from your plan.

For your convenience, we do accept personal checks, Visa, American Express, MasterCard and Discover. Payment is due at the time of services unless prior financial arrangements have been made. Please let us know if we can help you with any financial arrangements as payment options are available.

We also now accept Care Credit to help finance your dental needs.

  • How do you handle dental emergencies?
If you encounter a dental emergency we will always try to work you into the schedule as soon as possible, usually the same day you call. On weekends Dr. Brown will be on call for all of our patients of record. If he is out of town he will have another doctor cover for him. You can always reach us by calling us or filling out a contact form.
