Restoring Smiles to Health and Beauty

At one time or another, most of us need some type of dental restoration, whether it’s filling a cavity, or completely making over a smile. Our goal is to provide comprehensive diagnostics and educate our patients to help them make informed choices about their care.

Fillings

We use mercury-free materials to fill cavities. Instead of a metal amalgam, we use a tooth-colored resin that creates a tight, durable seal within the cavity, and gives your tooth a natural appearance.

Inlays/Onlays

Inlays are restorations that cover the top of your tooth up to the cusps (points). Overlays extend over one or more of the cusps of the tooth. Dr. Brown generally recommends gold inlays for strength and durability and porcelain onlays.

Crowns

When a tooth is severely damaged (but still intact), then a porcelain crown can help save your natural tooth by covering and reinforcing it. We have our own lab in our office, and can save time and expense by creating your crown in-house. The in-house lab provides us with the ability to control the quality. We make sure that each and every crown is custom-stained to precisely match the rest of your teeth for a beautiful, natural look.

Bridges

When a tooth is lost, one option to replace it is with a bridge that closes the gap created by the lost tooth. A bridge is composed of two crowns cemented to the teeth on either side of the gap, and a false tooth or teeth in between. They are virtually undetectable and help you speak, eat (and smile!) naturally.

Partial and Full Dentures

Partial or full dentures are an option if a patient has lost all or most of his or her teeth. Dr. Brown will discuss the various options and benefits of partial and full dentures with you. Together, you and Dr. Brown will design a plan that meets your specific needs and helps bring a beautiful smile back to your face.

Root Canals

In some cases of disease or injury, a tooth may be physically intact but the nerves inside the root canals are infected or dead. When this happens, the root canals need to be thoroughly cleaned out and filled to replace the nerves. Dr. Brown refers patients requiring root canal therapy to a colleague specializing in this type of restoration.

Emergency Care

Accidents will happen, or sudden painful toothaches flare up. We are available to take care of your emergencies. If it occurs during regular office hours, we will fit you in. If you need care any other time, Dr. Brown provides his personal cell number.

Pain-free Dentistry

We use the most safe and effective forms of sedation and anesthesia to make sure that you are comfortable during any dental treatment. For anesthesia, instead of shots, we use a device called the Wand that slowly delivers anesthesia to ensure a pain-free experience.

We can also help you manage any dental anxiety by prescribing a mild oral sedative for you to take one or two hours before you appointment. Sedation does not mean knocking our patients out! It means we can help you have relaxed and non-painful dental appointments.

TMD/TMJ

Patients with temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD or TMJ) may have jaws that “lock” or make popping and clicking noises. They may have facial pain and chronic headaches, or numbness. Dr. Brown helps position the ball of your jaw joint in its correct position to relieve these symptoms. Treatment may include a custom-fit splint, a thin plastic mouthpiece that is fit over your upper or lower teeth to help gently reposition your jaw.

Dental Implants

Even one lost tooth can be devastating. But dental implants are a strong, fully-functional, and attractive tooth replacement option. The implants themselves are surgically placed into your jaw, and a porcelain crown is then permanently fixed on top of it. Read more on our Dental Implants page.

In-house Laboratory

Our dental practice is unique as we have our own in-house dental lab. Angela Nicholas has been our in-house dental laboratory technician for over 24 years. Having our own lab gives us total quality control from the materials, to the skills and techniques used.
